THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND AS A PLAYER & TEAM
Shooting and Posting Lanes:
- Learn to shoot from both hands.
- Learn to stay posted on a lane. Posting a lane is crucial to keeping your opponent locked down and not able to move to key spots on the field. If they try and move you are already waiting.
- Learn to lead a runner, calculate how fast and shoot ahead of them allowing them to run through your stream.
- If you are pinched in a bunker there is time to communicate or post another lane.
- Load your hopper without taking your eyes off your target. If you are holding a lane reload while staying on the lane, 2 seconds is all it takes for your opponent to bump out.
- Drop pods behind you or away not in the lane you’re shooting.
Shooting of Break:
- Smashing other Teams and keeping them on their heels the entire game, at the same time playing smart not getting yourself shot.
- Running and Gunning, concentrating on keeping your gun steady on target while letting your lower body glide across the ground.
- Shoot both sides of bunkers for over sliding opponents.
- Making sure you know your responsibility in every game. If you’re not sure, ask so we all stay mentally together.
- Know your job and your position (Front, Mid or Back).
- Speed is great but accuracy kills. If you do both, you should dominate.
- Not giving the other Team time to adjust to them losing a player. Tighten the collar.
- If a teammate gets shot out of or going into a key bunker, before filling be aware of how and where your teammate got shot from before getting shot yourself.
Gun Battles:
- Battle your mirror, especially if your next bump is a must. Battle them, put them in and bump to your next position while your still holding them in. Do not battle an opponent if your teammate has a shot on them, it may get you shot and unnecessarily eliminated causing a major game shift in your opponents favor.
- Crouching and running to your next bump. Never have both knees on the ground, always be ready to bump to the next position.
- Learn to use sounds of paintballs hitting your bunker to find out where the shots are coming from.
- Learn to shoot the middle of an opponents bunker a few times to make them ask “where are they shooting from?”
- Use your vision to see shadows of players behind bunkers to see what side they are on and what they are doing.
- Make sure your opponent is out, if you think you hit him call a ref check on him and throw a few more balls his way if he has not pulled himself out.
- Always remain focused and not let the adrenaline take over, if you are going to bunker someone make sure you kill them and not waste a body and lose valuable points.
- If you are going to bunker an opponent make sure you have paint to do so, and if possible let your teammate know so he can capitalize on it by moving up field.
Communication, Vision and Mentality:
- Not getting tunnel vision and losing track of your teammates and their communication.
- Communicate to teammates by talking instead of yelling, address a teammate by name just so he hears you and acknowledge you here your teammate communicating to you.
- Check your equipment every week, if something is wrong and you can’t fix it, bring it to one of your teammates one of them will help you.
- Communicate on and off the field.
- Use your field vision to see where lanes are and where they are coming from.
- Always clear the field before hanging a flag.
- Always call kill count as well as your eliminated teammates (G count).
